A Clandestine Affair!!
I am baited and hooked forever. Smitten to the core. Now there is no looking back. To come to think of it, I have been waiting for this my whole life. Yes, it is a clandestine affair. An affair to continue and cherish. A tryst with paint and palette. Dates with my canvas and easel. A rendezvous with Art.
Nothing gets me more charged up than the loving strokes of brushes on canvas and caresses of the palette knives.
The golden orb of the rising sun and the pensive melancholy mood of the same setting star all seems so artistic now. I think, God has his own little affair going on the side with colours as well.
Cascading waves of the bottomless oceans and tiny boats sailing in the distant horizon catch my senses with a different mood. Casting shadows of trees in the twilight, luminance of street lights on a stormy night, all things which seemed eerie once upon a time, are a mesmerizing delight now.
The gentle glow of fireflies in the darkness of the night and the Whispering willows catch my breath. I can almost hear the soft rustle as I paint them. I want to paint it all. I want to imprint the moments deep within the folds of my canvas and capture them forever.
Purple and white make a beautiful mauve. Pthalo Blue mixes well with Dioxazine Purple but Burnt Umber and Sienna make an optical mess Oh! what a mess!!!
Like a young lover discovering the moods of her beau, it is exciting for me to discover all the moods of these paints. Sometimes it is a chaotic messy splash of colours. Sometimes, it is harmony of warm colours. Sometimes I lose myself in the swirls of circles and sometimes in the blends of white and black.
Oh! Look at those bright yellow sunflowers!! What about those gorgeous red tulips! Don’t miss the colorful poppies swaying in the fields or the purple summer flowers against the wooden fence.
The abstracts and the impressionistic, they all put my heart in a flurry. It’s all a poetic profusion for me.
So busy are we, with the mundane routines of our lives that we hardly ever pay attention to the intricacies of life around us. Everything is always a passing blur. Things go by. People go past us. We are busy in our world trying to successfully finish up all our designated chores for the day missing out on so many wonderful abundant gifts of life. Little do we notice the small droplet of water just getting ready to roll off that leaf or that mysterious shadow formed by that beautiful flower vase that adorns your dining table or the perfect alignment of tree branches in your garden…
Painting has given me a different visual perspective on everything. I truly feel like that 2 year old just discovering the new wonders of life.
With each brush stroke, I discover my SPIRIT.
With each brush stroke, I discover a new ME.
It, definitely is an Affair to Remember !!!
