The Romulo Twist
A “Blob” here and an “Escher” there…if there is someone who knows the art of flirting with furniture and making them look exciting, it must be Romulo.
Romulo Temigue is an Architect who lives and works in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Having pursued interior design projects for a while, he realized, he wanted to create bespoke and original furniture pieces. Thus, began his journey as an Industrial Designer. Romulo creates original CGI renders of Industrial design furniture and lighting pieces. His designs are also available as collectibles in the NFT space.
Flamboyant bright colors with mixed materials marks his signature style. His body of works comes from a deep place of wanting to convert his thoughts of creativity into visual works of art. Romulo’s works are a perfect blend of contemporary and modern art brought to you in a special way which is his own.
He has collaborated with extraordinary Abstract Artists from different parts of the world, blending their Art works with his original furniture designs. This time it was my turn.
It gives me immense pleasure to collaborate with Romulo on his latest exquisite furniture design “Buffet”. He chooses my “Let It Flow 1” artwork on his Buffet design to give it a delightful bright twist. Buffet is wall storage unit and has been designed in two colours to give you a variety to choose from. I am simply amazed at artistry of the little doorknobs . They have their own character.
“Let It Flow” is part of my “confinement” series. It is especially close to my heart as it embodies the true spirit of rediscovering my love for Art and giving me roots in this time of confinement and loss. The urge to create can sometimes send you in a frenzy especially when you have plenty to express. I found myself experimenting a lot in this series, trying out newer mediums, styles and color combinations which are uncharacteristic to me but so important for emotional release. I have usually been very conscious in choosing the color palette for my works but for this series, I just let it flow. I have used colors that have made me feel both vulnerable and empowered.
Through my Art, I aspire to connect with my audience with the all-embracing understanding that we all go through the same emotions, vulnerabilities and struggles and that it’s alright to just let go and release everything in the process to rediscover our true self.
This was such a fun project to work on…the back and forth of designs, burning the midnight oil trying to manage the time difference, being patient with the technically challenged Me (hahahah), a lot of painful Nos and happy Yesses…but in the end a lot of laughter and a good sense of bonhomie.
It has been an honour to work with you Romulo. Looking forward to a beautiful friendship and more partnerships.
